Louisiana residents need to make more than twice the minimum wage in order to afford an average two-bedroom apartment.
That's according to a report by the National Low Income Housing Coalition which calculates the needed wage to be $17 an hour.
At 2.3 times the minimum of $7.25 an hour, that's still not enough for the most expensive areas such as New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
The report's data was calculated using an assumption that people use about 30% of their income on housing.
