A judge is denying an appeal from a former mayor of New Orleans.
U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo rejected Ray Nagin's appeal of his conviction and ten-year sentence, saying that none of his complaints justified overturning the public corruption charges.
The 63-year-old wrote of his concerns about prosecutors and his own defense attorney in a brief written from a federal prison camp in Texas.
Nagin was convicted by a jury for illegal business with city vendors, including a granite installation contract from Home Depot in 2013.
The ex-mayor is expected to stay in prison until May 25, 2023.
