New Beginnings is giving up two of its schools in the city.

The charter operator announced yesterday that it will surrender the charter at Pierre Capdau and Kennedy High School in the interest of student learning.

This comes as New Beginnings faces a grade-fixing scandal at Kennedy, leaving half its graduating seniors without the credits needed to graduate.

The superintendent of the Orleans Parish School Board said they plan to keep the schools open and find a new charter operator.
