Driver Lucky To Be Alive After Massive Tree Crushes His Truck In Slidell

Slidell police say the driver of a truck is lucky to be alive after a massive tree fell over and crushed his vehicle.

According to reports, Carey Dorsey was driving his pickup on Gause Boulevard around 5:30 a.m. Monday when the tree toppled over in front of him.

Dorsey's truck collided with the trunk of the tree, which was too big to avoid hitting.

Authorities are looking into why the tree fell over and believe it could be from either saturated ground or a rotted out core.
