Police say they have issued citations to a driver who caused a syrup spill on North Rampart Street.

According to reports, a tanker truck traveling eastbound began leaking almost 1,000 gallons of syrup which created a road hazard and closed several lanes.

Officials said they expected to have the spill cleaned by 5 a.m. Tuesday morning and northbound traffic was not affected.

No one was hurt, but the driver of the truck was given three tickets for improper loading and violations of size and weight limitations.
