Two officers, the New Orleans Police Department and the city are facing a lawsuit from a man who was beaten outside a Mid City bar last year.
Army vet Jorge Gomez was beaten unconscious by Officers Spencer Sutton and John Galman at Mid-City Yacht Club in 2018.
The lawsuit, filed in federal court, says Gomez's constitutional rights were violated when he was beaten by the off-duty officers who were not arrested at the scene.
The suit also claims the city and the NOPD are withholding information from his lawyers and continue to employ "dangerous police officers."
Gomez seeks undisclosed damages and a forced change in the hiring process of the police department.
