SNAP Users Must Apply For Lost Food Due To Hurricane Barry

Some SNAP benefit recipients may be eligible for replacement benefits due to food loss from Hurricane Barry.

As these benefits are not automatic, users must report their losses to the state Department of Children and Family Services by today.

Those who purchased food in June or July with SNAP and lost the items because of power outage or damage from Barry can apply, but the power must have been out for at least 24 hours.

Recipients can find application information online on the DCFS site.
