The leading cause of death for children between one and four is occurring in Louisiana at twice the rate as the rest of the nation.

Approximately six children in 100,000 are dying of accidental drowning, versus close to three children nationally.

While the numbers have decreased gradually since 1979 to 1983 in America, the total locally has spiked by almost two children since 2009-13.
