Local groups are saying that the cost of Entergy New Orleans' controversial new power plant will cost nearly three times what the company proposed.
The Alliance for Affordable Energy, Sierra Club, neighborhood groups and Justice and Beyond said they used public records from a recent court case to estimate the cost of ENO's controversial New power plant and discovered the new plant would cost nearly $700 million.
The groups are saying that those costs will be passed along to ENO customers in New Orleans.
This is the latest point of contention in years of emotional debate pitting people against the new power plant and they want city leaders to step in before customers' bills go up.
