New Orleans has a new chief of public housing and she's getting paid big.
Evette Hester, the new executive director of the Housing Authority of New Orleans, will be paid $225,000 annually under a three-year contract effective October 1st.
According to her contract, Hester will also get $13,000 to help with the costs of moving from Montgomery, Alabama, to New Orleans.
The former chief of the Montgomery Housing Authority, rose to the top of a pool of 11 eligible candidates who applied for the job after Gregg Fortner announced his retirement earlier this year.
