The New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board says recent citywide flooding events need to be investigated.

S&WB Communications Director Richard Rainey said that yesterday's flooding was extreme and officials need to look into why these unusual incidents are occurring.

Officials say at least six times over the past two years, a routine summer thunderstorm has resulted in high water across various parts of New Orleans.

Sources say the investigation would most likely focus on the city's current drainage system.
