NTSB Releases Preliminary Report On Deadly Plane Crash

The National Transportation Safety Board is releasing its latest findings on the plane crash that killed both the pilot Franklin Augustus and Fox 8 News anchor Nancy Parker.

On August 16th, their plane crashed shortly after taking off from the New Orleans Lakefront Airport.

Reports say Augustus had requested a return to the airport shortly after takeoff, and his request was granted, but he instead continued to fly and didn't return to the airport.

Witnesses say the airplane then began to make a steep descent before crashing into an open field about a mile south of the airport.

Investigators are still working to determine more details.
