Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy is leading the fight for better national flood insurance plans.
He, along with many other local lawmakers, say insurance rates should be lowered for owners who have raised their homes above flood level regardless of the flood zone they're in.
Cassidy also is advocating for federal funds to be spent on preventative measures, which he says would save the federal government more money in the long run.
