Jefferson Parish officials are warning about a new scam circulating on Facebook.
Officials say they discovered a fake Facebook Messenger account was created that was posing as the parish's official page and messaging people, asking for money.
Parish officials say they will never send anyone a message on Facebook to request money or promote a fundraiser.
If you receive a message from a fake account, the parish asks that you report it to Facebook immediately.
