The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says it has arrested a federal investigator on a charge of criminal defamation.

Agent Jerry Rogers Junior was taken into custody yesterday for allegedly leaking information about the unsolved murder of a Covington fire chief's wife in 2017.

Rogers is an investigator with the Office of the Inspector General for the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Officials say Rogers created fake email accounts and sent messages criticizing the STPSO to the family members of the victim.
