Officials at the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board say they are changing the way customer's water use is estimated.
The S&WB said yesterday that it would be using a more personalized formula for homes without readable meters in place of blanket water-use estimates.
In the past, the board would use a flat rate of 100-gallons a day for the properties without readable meters and will now enter the previous four actual readings into a formula to calculate a water usage estimate.
S&WB officials say the new system will help customers better predict their water bill.
