WARNING: This story contains graphic descriptions of animal torture.
Officials say they have rescued a dog who was found tortured in a mobile home park off Highway 11 in Slidell.
Workers at Dante's Hope Rescue East said yesterday that the dog had been shot twice and both of its hind legs were removed in a horrific manner.
Veterinarians say the dog's injuries are not consistent with being hit by a car or caught in a trap and were more than likely caused by a saw.
A care fund has been set up to help pay for the dog's treatment, and doctors hope to get a special wheelchair for the animal so it can be adopted when it's fully recovered.
