Federal officials say they are working to provide assistance to help the Louisiana seafood industry.
U.S. Representative Steve Scalise confirmed over the weekend that the U.S Department of Commerce approved Governor Edwards' recent request for assistance.
The money is set to go to help Louisiana fisheries suffering from the damage caused by freshwater released from the Bonnet Carre Spillway.
The money will be provided under the umbrella of the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration.
