A national research group's new study shows that New Orleans' poor road conditions are costing residents thousands of dollars.

According to TRIP, driving on the bumpy roads costs New Orleans drivers an average of $2,200 per year.

The study shows that New Orleans drivers annually spend an additional $657 on vehicle operating costs such as car repairs because of roads, an additional $1,100 on gas because of congestion, and $339 on lack of safety features that cause accidents.

The report doesn't include water damage from street flooding, but that's something drivers in the Big Easy have to deal with too.
