The new $1 billion terminal at the New Orleans Louis Armstrong International airport is now officially open to passengers.
Mayor Latoya Cantrell was one of many officials who attended an opening ceremony at the facility yesterday, saying the terminal's three concourses and 35 gates were something worthy of pride for the community.
Construction of the new terminal faced several setbacks and delays, but Cantrell said the city was more concerned with getting it done right over getting it done by a date on a calendar.
The FAA recently released data showing New Orleans as one of the fastest-growing cities for air travel in the country.
