Election officials say the recently ended early voting period is seeing a surge in participation from African-American voters.
According to data released yesterday, African-American voters accounted for 31% of the vote with almost 500,000 people casting early ballots.
Election watchers say the high turnout could be good news for incumbent Governor John Bel Edwards, who needs to carry the African-American vote to win another term.
Louisianans will have results soon as Election Day is set for this Saturday.
