Governor John Bel Edwards says state government servers were the victim of a ransomware cyber-attack on Monday.
Edwards' office released a statement saying the state shut down systems affecting the Office of Motor Vehicles and other servers.
The governor also said Monday's attack was similar to the ransomware that targeted Louisiana school districts over the summer.
Officials say no data was lost in the attack, and several federal agencies are now helping investigate the source of the malware.
