S&WB: One Turbine Running As Second Turbine Remains Offline Indefinitely

The New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board says they have been able to bring one of two damaged turbines at their Carrollton plant back online.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced yesterday that turbine four had been repaired but there was no timetable for when turbine five might be fixed.

Three S&WB employees were injured when turbine five exploded over the weekend while trying to compensate when turbine four went offline.

Because of the turbine's vital roles in helping to ease flooding, a state of emergency has been declared to help speed along repairs.
