State Announces Plans For New Medical Distribution Center Near Covington

Officials are going to build a medical distribution center near Covington despite opposition from North Shore neighbors.

State leaders announced Wednesday that Medline Industries will replace its existing distribution center between Covington and Goodbee with an even larger facility north of I-12 and LA 21.

The multi-million-dollar center won't be built easily however as North Shore residents have been fighting the distribution center for months, citing their concerns about traffic and drainage.

The St. Tammany Corporation refuted their complaints and explained how the new 800,000 sq. ft. center will create more than 460 new jobs, pumping more money into the economy.
