New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell says the city needs to do a better job when it comes to school bus safety.
Cantrell made her remarks yesterday in the wake of a school bus accident that sent nine students to the hospital.
Cantrell said Orleans School Officials are now looking at how the district can increase bus safety and work with operators to get their vehicles properly inspected.
The mayor added that as of right now the city only controls the permit process and doesn't have the authority to stop bus operators from putting drivers on the street.
