Some streetcar services are returning to Canal Street and adjoining areas after more than two months of disruptions due to the Hard Rock Hotel collapse.
The Regional Transit Authority announced Sunday that it is now able to restore partial service on the 47-Canal Cemeteries line on Loyola Avenue traveling to Union Passenger Terminal.
The agency also said it would extend service on the 2-Riverfront streetcar line from the French Market to the corner of Canal and Carondelet streets.
Buses will continue to run from South Liberty and Canal streets to Carondelet and Canal via the temporary transit hub at Duncan Plaza.
The transit authority is advising pedestrians that the area near the collapse remains a restricted zone and the RTA will continue to operate its detoured routes through there.
