The new year is bringing some new laws to the Pelican State.
One of two new laws went into effect yesterday will impact the medical and safety industries.
According to officials, House Law 119 was instated Wednesday which requires insurers to give prescribers a list of five alternative comparable medications if a prescription drug is denied.
The second regulation, titled House Law 438, is focused on filling vacant positions within the police department in the city of Baton Rouge.
The law will not go into effect until March 31st.
