A new nationwide study by a financial management consulting group is ranking Louisiana among the worst U.S. states for retirement.
Blacktower, a firm that helps North Americans and Europeans find retirement locations in America and the Caribbean, released its list over the weekend of the best places for their clients to retire in the United States.
Blacktower looked at a number of factors, including cost of living, crime, poverty rates, healthcare, and life expectancy.
Louisiana ranked 46 out of 50 with low scores in crime and life expectancy.
