The New Orleans City Council is officially moving forward with their own investigation into last October's Hard Rock Hotel collapse.
The council voted unanimously last night to form a special committee to look into the fatal accident that took the lives of three construction workers.
Council members said they hope their discoveries will lead to public policy changes and new laws preventing future disasters from happening.
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell told the council this week that her office would not support the committee because it may jeopardize other agencies' investigations.
