The Louisiana Health Department says they are actively monitoring the coronavirus outbreak that has been spreading from China.

Officials said yesterday that there are five confirmed cases in the United States, but none have been found in Louisiana.

All of the U.S. patients were infected during recent visits to the area near Wuhan, China where the outbreak is believed to have begun.

The Health Department says the risk of exposure is low, but Louisianans should still get vaccinated for the flu and take steps like washing their hands, covering their mouths when coughing or sneezing, and staying home when sick.
