Former Local Broadcaster, Convicted Murderer Vince Marinello Passes Away

Officials say Vince Marinello, a former New Orleans sportscaster who was convicted of killing his wife, has passed away.

The Dixon Correctional Center confirmed yesterday that the 82-year-old Marinello died on February 21st from natural causes while serving a life sentence.

Marinello was convicted of murdering his estranged wife in 2006 by using an elaborate disguise and then trying to create an alibi by driving to Mississippi.

Before the murder, in the 1980s and 90s, Marinello worked on TV and radio as well as the Fair Grounds Race Course and maintained his innocence during his time behind bars.
