Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards says the state is preparing to deal with any potential threat from the global coronavirus outbreak.

Edwards told the Press Club of Baton Rouge Monday that even though there have been no current confirmed cases in Louisiana, he has established a state-level task force to coordinate with other agencies on a comprehensive pandemic plan.

The task force will work with officials from multiple agencies, including the Department of Health, State Homeland Security, the Louisiana National Guard, State Police, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Governor's office said the public should not be scared but should be prepared by getting a flu shot, remaining vigilant, and staying away from public spaces if you feel sick.
