The organizers of the annual Hogs for a Cause charity event say they are canceling this year due to concerns over the coronavirus.
Officials with Hogs for a Cause announced their decision yesterday saying as an organization committed to health care, canceling the event to limit public exposure to the virus was the responsible course of action.
Hogs for a Cause was to have taken place on March 27th and 28th with proceeds going to local and national children's hospitals as well as to families of pediatric brain cancer patients. The event plans to return in 2021.
Also canceled is Entrepreneur Week, organizers announced Wednesday.
The 12th annual event had been set to begin March 23rd, with nearly 5,000 people and about 100 speakers expected to attend the week-long gatherings around the city.
The announcements follows several other notable cancellations including the Metairie Road St. Patrick's Day Parade and the Irish-Italian Parade set for this weekend.
