Presumptive Positive Cases In Louisiana Grow Quickly From 51 To 67 Saturday

The number of presumptive positive cases of coronavirus in Louisiana jumped quickly Saturday, from 51 in the morning to 67 by midday.

"We are seeing the numbers rise rapidly," Gov. John Bel Edwards told reporters, adding that the state is one of the highest in the nation in terms of the number of presumptive positive cases per capita.

44 cases are in Orleans Parish, 10 are in Jefferson Parish, followed by two cases each in St. Tammany, St. Charles and Terrebonne parishes. Bossier, Caddo, and St. John the Baptist parishes have one case each.

The Louisiana Department of Health adds the CDC has given final positive confirmation to 2 coronavirus cases in the state. There are no deaths reported.

Tests completed by the state lab stand at 178 as of Saturday afternoon.
