Fifth Death From Coronavirus In Louisiana Reported Wednesday Morning

The latest COVID-19 numbers from the Louisiana Department of Health showed 240 cases across the state as of Wednesday morning. The death count has increased to five, all in Orleans Parish, which continues to be the home for the majority of cases with 176.

Jefferson Parish has 37 cases and St. Tammany is next in line with 6. The remaining parishes reporting cases are Caddo (5), Lafourche (3), St. Charles (3), Terrebonne (3), St. Bernard (2), Ascension (1), Bossier (1), East Baton Rouge (1), St. John the Baptist (1) and Washington (1).

The patient in East Baton Rouge is being treated at Baton Rouge General off Bluebonnett Boulevard. The hospital, citing patient privacy, did not release any further details, however Mayor Sharon Weston Broome's office said they will continue coordinating the response for the community.

Those in the 40-49 age group are seeing the most cases with 56.
