Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto is addressing allegations that a deputy planted evidence on a suspect.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Lopinto spoke about a 30-second viral video of the arrest in Bridge City, which seems to show a deputy placing a bag of pills on the ground next to suspect Dominique Griffin while he is being handcuffed.
Lopinto said after conducting individual interviews with those on the scene, he is confident the pills were on Griffin and were not planted.
Lopinto also said that Griffin is remorseful and cooperating and has apologized for biting a deputy while he was resisting arrest.
