Mayor LaToya Cantrell is calling the U.S. response to the coronavirus pandemic "inadequate" and "unacceptable."
In an interview with national media outlets yesterday, Cantrell described the problems the state has been facing and insisted the federal government must step in with aid as soon as possible.
The backlash comes just one day after The Advocate pointed out that the growing crisis in New Orleans had largely been absent from national discussions.
Much of the attention of the national media and elected officials has been instead focused on states like Washington, New York and California.
