National officials are urging that Louisiana issues a lockdown soon.

The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, appeared on CNN and says that a statewide shutdown could have come sooner.

Fauci added that the outbreak is intimidating, frustrating and frightening which is why a shutdown is necessary.

In about two weeks, Louisiana has seen COVID-19 cases grow exponentially by over 1,000 and has suffered about 65 deaths related to the virus.
