Governor John Bel Edwards says he expects to extend his order to halt large gatherings until the end of April.

Edwards spoke during a coronavirus update yesterday, saying the extension would be in line with federal recommendations to keep social distancing in place for at least another 30 days.

Edwards said he understood what this would mean for public schools that are still working on trying to salvage what they can of the academic year.

Edwards said he expects to make the extension official later in the week.
