The family of one of Louisiana's most prominent trial lawyers, Daniel Becnel, Jr., says he has passed away at age 75.
Becnel had been battling leukemia since 2015 shortly after an unsuccessful run for St. John the Baptist President.
Over the years, Becnel was involved in dozens of high-profile lawsuits, taking on the likes of big tobacco, Dow Corning's breast implants, BP oil spills, the Luling Ferry disaster, and Toyota's sudden-acceleration recall.
Born in New Orleans, Becnel graduated from both LSU and Loyola University and is survived by his wife, four sons, seven grandchildren, and two siblings.
