Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards says the state's schools will remain closed for the remainder of the academic year.

Edwards announced yesterday the decision not to reopen schools on April 30th for in-person instruction.

His decision will be made official on Tuesday afternoon.

Edwards says students will continue their education remotely by taking classes online and through video calls.

Edwards did not say if he was planning on following the school closures by extending the state's stay-at-home-order into May.
