The city of New Orleans is allowing the owners of the partially collapsed Hard Rock Hotel to begin tearing down what's left of the building.
One day after a deadline expired, the city granted conditional permits to 1031 Canal Development to start the process of demolishing what is left of the hotel that collapsed in October last year, killing three workers.
1031 Canal Development says they hope to have equipment in place early next week to begin the work, which is estimated to take about six months to complete.
