Business owners in the city will need to keep records of who enters their establishments when the city begins to ease restrictions.

During a conference call with state officials on Tuesday, Mayor LaToya Cantrell said the requirement is aimed at making it easier for health officials to track down residents who may have come into contact with people who have been exposed to COVID-19.

According to the city's website, businesses are directed to create their own method of tracking employees and patrons but it's not clear how the city would enforce the rules or if the information will be collected in a uniform way.

A Cantrell spokesman said details about the effort will come later.
