Several chefs and restaurants in the New Orleans area are nominated for prestigious awards from the James Beard Foundation.
The group released its nominees yesterday as part of a tradition to announce on James Beard's birthday.
In the Best New Restaurant category, Gianna on Magazine and Girod street received a nomination while Kristen Essig and Michael Stoltzfus from Coquette, Mason Hereford from Turkey and the Wolf, Michael Gulotta from Maypop, and Isaac Toups from Toups' Meatery were selected in Best Chef South Region.
Donald Link from Herbsaint was nominated for Outstanding Chef while JoAnn Clevenger from Upperline is up for Outstanding Restaurateur.
