New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell says the city will start re-opening later this week but under stricter guidelines than recommended.
Cantrell spoke yesterday, saying the city has seen a sustained decline in cases for nearly a month, which will allow the easing of stay-at-home orders.
New Orleans Health Director Dr. Jennifer Avegno said residents would be urged to continue working from home, wearing face coverings in public as much as possible, and to keep physical distancing in place.
Officials say for the moment, events where the virus could possibly be spread rapidly like weddings, funerals, and conventions will remain restricted.
