Mystic Krewe of Nyx Founder and Captain Julie Lea is facing a walkout of float lieutenants and members over an insensitive social media post she made in the wake of the death of George Floyd.
On Sunday, 27 Nyx lieutenants demanded that Lea resign as Captain and that the krewe's board re-write its bylaws to strip her of control of the krewe she has run since its founding.
Yesterday, Lea issued a response saying that she refused to resign from her position and asked anyone who is unhappy with the Krewe to resign.
The tension within the krewe stems from an incident last week when Lea used the phrase "All Lives Matter" in a social media post representing the krewe.
