Amtrak will cut service later this year on most of its long-distance routes nationwide to three times a week.
Amtrak spokeswoman Kimberly Woods said beginning on October 1st train routes will be cut to three days a week in several cities including New Orleans due to a decrease in ridership.
Woods said the new service will remain in place until at least summer of 2021, but daily service could be restored if demand improves along its long-distance routes.
