The Louisiana House is voting to approve a resolution calling for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office to buy body cameras.

HR9 made it out of the Committee on Criminal Justice on Tuesday and was later passed by the full House with a vote of 98-0.

The bill gives Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto until January 1st to present lawmakers with a plan for creating a body-worn camera policy for his department.

Lopinto has said his office does have a policy but cannot afford the cost to store video from an average of 300,000 service calls they receive every year.
