The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshall is expanding the number of courtesy visits to businesses across the state.

Officials said yesterday they are increasing shifts and times so they can visit more places to make sure stores, restaurants, and other businesses are following the proper COVID-19 guidelines.

Marshall's Office agents said they have mostly been finding that those out of compliance are just uninformed of the rules and are usually back in line by the next visit.

Repeat non-compliant businesses could face penalties including a citation with a $500 fine, six-months in jail, or an order to shut down.
