LDH Reports Over 2,000 Additional COVID-19 Cases In Tuesday Update

The Louisiana Department of Health reported an additional 2,040 cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, bringing the statewide total since the pandemic began to 68,263.

LDH said 87% of the new cases are blamed on community spread and 35% of the cases involve those age 29 and younger.

The number of hospitalizations increased by 61 to 1,025. The number of patients on ventilators was unchanged at 109.

The death toll in Louisiana from the coronavirus is now 3,211, an increase of 23.

LDH posted an updated count shortly after and tweeted this explanation: "Because of the daily removal of newly identified duplicates and out of state cases, the new case increase may not match the difference between today’s and yesterday’s total case count."
